Action for Deafness was founded, as a charity, in 1994 by deaf people and for deaf people in West Sussex.
Action for Deafness provides advice, support, information and services to enable Deaf, deafened, hard of hearing and deafblind people to lead independent lives.
The organisation is core funded by West Sussex County Council and works in partnership with many other local and national organisations including the NHS with which it has a contract to provide audiology services.
Rather Fine Work:
In previous employment Lee Meads (founder of Rather Fine Design) first met Action for Deafness CEO Jane Shaw in 2008 when she approached him to redesign their logo. Since then Action for Deafness has grown from a charity based in a small office in Haywards Heath, to expand into many other parts of Sussex including another office in Worthing and audiology centres in Crawley, Shoreham by Sea, East Grinstead and other towns and villages. Anyone that has had a tour of their new head office in Haywards Heath would be able to tell this is a well organised and established charity.
Since late 2014 Rather Fine Design has continued to expand the Action for Deafness brand and is proud to feel part of a team of highly dedicated (not to mention the friendliest of) people. With their brand colours of yellow, black and white, the offices and general publicity material are hard to miss. Many people with hearing loss have visual problems as well – yellow, black and white when used together create a high contrast combination which is why these colours were chosen.
May this charity continue to flourish with a bit of help from us!
